As you'd expect from The Sun, the headline doesn't marry up with the quotes. I'd agree it's better to lose now than in the semi-finals, in both cases there's not even a day out at Wembley, and this way gives us some free weekends. In May we'll have the week after Edinburgh off, and also an extra weeks preparation before going to France at the beginning of June, so there's some positives.
I agree fully that losing wasn't nice, of course I'd have preferred to still be in the cup and hoping for a trip to Wembley, but what's done is done, let's scrape up as many of those crumbs as we can.

Is anyone really that bothered about the CC anymore. its a good day out in London but its our equivalent of the league cup at best. If the RFL decided to drop the competition entirely to reduce the number of games our players play and strengthen the international teams chances at the end of the season I would wholeheartedly applaud. The CC is the last trace of the winter game which we got rid of over a decade ago. If we lost that and the BBCs appauling and embarassing coverage I would be extremely happy. The game should mean one thing the grand final. period.
I'd certainly have enjoyed beating saints simply because I hate scousers but in the scheme of the season the 4 game rest will be massive for us.

Given the straight choice between the 2 i'd pick the SL every time but i was still gutted to lose and the cup is still special especially this year imo. |
