Just been on phone with British gas.



They put my monthly payments up from £67.00 to £92.00 per month.
When I got my last bill, it was £83.00 in credit (with an over estimated reading). I am on price protection until June 2010.

After giving the guy some grief, they have dropped it back down to £72.00. That is still an increase of £5.00 per month.

I am still left wondering how they calculated an increase.



Also, how can they just decide to increase without an explanation, or breakdown as to why?

i has exactly the same with them last week, they are putting up my payments to cover the fuel i "might" use over winter !!!!!!

Whatever you do, dont go onto USwitch and see how much you could be saving by sticking two fingers up at British Gas!

Leave British Gas they tried it on with me a couple of years ago

More than happy with E-On as my provider now, you have the upper hand here you can choose who is best for you, go onto a comparison site and have a look

excellent. i'm with npower, paid £35 per month and finsihed the year in credit too. they dooubled it to £72 but i'm puzzled too. time for price comparison..

p.s i'm guessing you get 1 x bill for each qtr, add em all up and then price compare ?

To get an accurate result from USwitch you need to know the name of your tariff, how much you pay etc.

Also, if anyone is in financial hardship you can qualify for the Economy tariffs, there is a myth that there is only Economy 7, you can actually get up to Economy 24.

Anyone who is a local authority or social tenant should ask their landlord for the energy officer to meet them and show them the best tariffs they can get, I regularly get people on benefit access to bills that are some 70% lower.

I am an authorised distributor for UTILITY WAREHOUSE. Before I became one (and switched to UW for gas and electric) I was BG for gas and NP for electric. And can I, with respect, tell people to still check their own information. Utility Warehouse is pyramid selling to a certain degree, you have to ask yourself how the agents get paid, a levvy from the charges you pay.

Our NPower monthly payment has just gone down and from being massively in debit on both gas and leccy we're now in credit, but I can't get the money back untl they read the meter. Given that they come to the house when we're at work, it looks like they get to keep it.
