| From out of the mists of time like the old colours of a battalion long since gone but never forgotten rode the colours of 1914 Fartowners all once again.
Strange in these days of differing fashions but resplendent again on the fields of Wigan.
For Wagstaff read Cudjoe, for Rosenfield read McGilivery and Clarke read Ferres.
Differing times and differing players some great some yet to be great but giving their all for the Claret & Gold.
The Champions of Wigan were waiting confident and ready to win but the Fartowners full of the Spirit of 1914
were to triumph on the day.
The power and passion and plenty of skill were fitting tribute to those Champions long gone before.
At the end of the game the colours went to salute the fans to celebrate the winning of the war.
And watching from somewhere on high the Ghosts of 1914 would have liked what they had seen !!!
